Maya Angelou/UNCF fundraiser
The eighth annual UNCF-Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon on June 19 honored women who give of their time and talents to the Charlotte community's benefit. Proceeds from the gala go to scholarships at North Carolina's UNCF schools, including Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte and Livingstone College in Salisbury.

Charlotte United photo day
Charlotte United Football Club will travel to South Africa for the World Cup Academy, a series of of junior soccer clinics. The United will play in an international tournament as well as conduct clinics in South African communities.

Gantt Center Public Grand Opening
On October 23, 2009 the trumpets sounded and the processional started marching to the ribbon cutting ceremony to usher in a new era for African American Art and Culture in Charlotte, NC.

AACC Sunset Ceremony
The Afro American Cultural Center had a sunset ceremony to officially close its doors in preparation to move to the new Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture.

Renaissance - Founders Society Gala
The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture held the Founders Society Gala on October 23, 2009 for the major contributors to to be the first to witness the transformation of African American art and culture in downtown Charlotte.
